One Winter Night 2021 – Lodge #143 Matching Funds

February 5 @ 6:00 pm - February 6 @ 6:00 am CST

Keagan Marie Markun, a youth member of St. John the Baptist KSKJ Lodge #143 is coordinating the 2021 Matching Funds Project for her KSKJ Life Lodge. She is the daughter of David and Kathleen Markun of Champaign, Illinois. Her entire family belongs to Lodge #143, and her father, David, is a former treasurer. Keagan is currently in the 8th grade at Next Generation School, and will be making her Confirmation at St. Matthew Catholic Church in February.

In the 6th grade, Keagan learned that there were children attending school in Champaign whose families were homeless. That year she joined her mother in raising money for the homeless through the CU One Winter Night project. As part of this project Keagan, with other volunteers, become homeless for one night in February and sleep on the street in Champaign in a cardboard box. Keagan’s passion for this cause inspired her KSKJ Lodge #143 and its parent organization KSKJ Life to partner with Keagan Marie and CU One Winter Night to raise funds for the homeless. Funds raised through sponsorships support C-U at Home’s ongoing efforts to provide shelter and other services for the most vulnerable homeless in town. Through their Matching Funds Program, KSKJ Life will contribute $1, up to $1000, for every $1 Keagan Marie and other participants raise in donations.
